Correlation between Anatomical Grading and Acoustic–Elastic Properties of Resonant Spruce Wood Used for Musical Instruments

چکیده
This paper deals with the acoustic and elastic properties of resonant wood, classified into four classes, according to classification wood quality by manufacturers musical instruments. Traditionally, grades are determined on basis visual inspections macroscopic characteristics (annual ring width, regularity, proportion early late absence defects, etc.). Therefore, in this research, we studied whether there correlations between anatomical used for construction violins. The results regarding identification spruce, color, acoustic/elastic properties, ultrasonic measurements, were statistically analyzed highlight connection properties. From statistical analysis, it can be seen that only variables power separate classes (in descending order importance) speed sound propagation radial direction, Poisson’s ratio longitudinal–radial sounds longitudinal direction.

The Acoustic Properties of Water Submerged Lodgepole Pine (Pinus contorta) and Spruce (Picea spp.) Wood and Their Suitability for Use as Musical Instruments
Wood is a common material used for the manufacture of many products, and submerged wood, in particular, has been used in niche markets and musical instruments. In order to examine if submerged wood in British Columbia, Canada, would be appropriate for use as musical instruments, a study was performed in 2007 on submerged wood from Ootsa Lake, British Columbia, Canada. The results of that study ...

In order to study the effects of structural variability, nanoindentation experiments were performed in Norway spruce cell walls with highly variable cellulose microfibril angle and lignin content. Contrary to hardness, which showed no statistically significant relationship with changing microfibril angle and lignin content, the elastic modulus of the secondary cell wall decreased significantly ...
متن کاملHybrid Resonant Assemblages: Rethinking Instruments, Touch and Performance in New Interfaces for Musical Expression
This paper outlines a concept of hybrid resonant assemblages, combinations of varied materials excited by sound transducers, feeding back to themselves via digital signal processing. We ground our concept as an extension of work by David Tudor, Nicolas Collins and Bowers and Archer [NIME 2005] and draw on a variety of critical perspectives in the social sciences and philosophy to explore such a...
متن کاملEigenvalues and Musical Instruments
Most musical instruments are built from physical systems that oscillate at certain natural frequencies. The frequencies are the imaginary parts of the eigenvalues of a linear operator, and the decay rates are the negatives of the real parts, so it ought to be possible to give an approximate idea of the sound of a musical instrument by a single plot of points in the complex plane. Nevertheless, ...
متن کاملsome properties of fuzzy hilbert spaces and norm of operators
in this thesis, at first we investigate the bounded inverse theorem on fuzzy normed linear spaces and study the set of all compact operators on these spaces. then we introduce the notions of fuzzy boundedness and investigate a new norm operators and the relationship between continuity and boundedness. and, we show that the space of all fuzzy bounded operators is complete. finally, we define...
